Holding Onto the Light: My Journey Through Darkness and Back
Finding Self-Expression After Loss
There were times when it felt like the light had completely left me. After heartbreak, trauma bonding, and deep personal losses, I didn’t just feel sad—I felt unsafe in joy, disconnected from myself, and unsure I would ever feel fully alive again.
Even the small things that once brought me comfort—self-expression, creativity, and feeling good in my own skin—felt impossible. I had lost my spark, and I didn’t know how to find it.
For a long time, fashion didn’t feel like a place where I belonged. Shopping for clothes was stressful and overwhelming, and I rarely felt comfortable or authentically myself in what I wore. That disconnect deepened when my confidence was shaken by heartbreak and loss. Expressing myself through personal style felt risky, and joy felt like something I wasn’t allowed to claim.
Discovering Healing Through Creativity
It was in this space of emptiness that I discovered creating hats.
Making them became more than a craft—it became a lifeline.
Each hat was an act of reclaiming my energy. Every stitch, color, and detail carried intention, reflecting pieces of my identity and my healing journey. What began as a creative outlet slowly became something deeper: a way to reconnect with myself.
Through creating, I found grounding. The repetitive motions of shaping, stitching, and designing quieted my mind when everything inside felt chaotic. It became meditation, therapy, and self-expression all at once.
Slowly, I began to feel joy again—not the loud kind I once feared had disappeared forever, but a quiet, steady light that comes from living in alignment with your spirit.
Statement Hats as Self-Expression
Over time, hats became a powerful form of personal expression for me.
A statement hat is more than an accessory—it’s a reflection of identity, creativity, and confidence. Wearing one can shift how you carry yourself, helping you take up space in a way that feels authentic and empowering.
For many women, especially those exploring boho fashion or intentional style, statement hats become a symbol of individuality. They allow us to express personality, heritage, spirituality, and creativity without saying a word.
For me, creating these pieces became a way to turn pain into purpose.
Building Community Through Ethical Fashion
What surprised me most was how this creative journey connected me with other women.
Through sharing my hats and my story, I met so many incredible women navigating similar paths—women healing from heartbreak, rediscovering self-expression, and learning to reclaim their light.
Together, we created something beautiful: a space of encouragement, inspiration, and empowerment.
These connections reminded me that self-expression isn’t just personal—it’s communal. When we show up authentically, we give others permission to do the same.
This philosophy is also why ethical fashion matters so deeply to me. The pieces we wear carry energy, intention, and story. Creating hats slowly, thoughtfully, and with care allows them to become meaningful objects—not just accessories.

Holding Onto the Light
Hats became my bridge back to myself and to others. Through them, I could express my heritage, my spiritual path, and my inner world in a way words alone could not.
They reminded me that shining your own light isn’t selfish—it’s essential.
When we honor our own journey and express our authentic selves, it inspires others to do the same. Every hat I create carries that philosophy: a reminder that our light matters.
I’m not fully “there” yet. I still move through shadows and moments of doubt. But I hold onto the light—the small flickers that guide me forward.
If you’ve ever felt dimmed by loss, heartbreak, or the weight of life’s expectations, know that your light is still there. It may feel small or fragile, but it exists. And it can guide you back to yourself.
Sometimes that path begins with creativity. Sometimes it begins with community. Sometimes it begins with something as simple as rediscovering the courage to express who you truly are.
The Meaning Behind Inara
Inara means to illuminate.
That meaning guides everything I create.
Through intentional design, ethical fashion values, and statement hats, my goal is simple: to create pieces that support self-expression and remind people of their inner light.
Because even in the darkest moments, the light is never truly gone.
Sometimes it just needs a place to shine again.
